Assuming your correspondent, who writes under a pseudonym...

Assuming your correspondent, who writes under a pseudonym in your last issue, to be a genuine inquirer, I would advise him to read the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, where he will find his inquiries fully answered. This book can be borrowed from most public libraries, and from all Christian Science Reading Rooms, where it may also be purchased.

Since his statement that The Christian Science Monitor says, "Armies and navies are necessary," is taken from its context, which undoubtedly qualifies it, I need not comment upon it, except to say that the teaching of Christian Science is based upon the precepts and practice of him, Christ Jesus, who was prophetically called "the Prince of Peace."

Christian Science strives for ultimate universal peace by the establishment of the kingdom of God in individual consciousness. Nevertheless, while men and nations continue to believe in a power apart from God, and to be controlled by fear, hatred, and avarice, they will continue to use some material or human form of protection for their rights, until the power and presence of God are understood and demonstrated in national and international intercourse.
