Seventeen years ago I first learned about Christian Science through a friend after I had suffered for months with a bad knee. I was wearing rubber bandages, but after attending church a few times I left them off, and my knee was all right.

After I was well I quite forgot about Christian Science and did not give it a thought for many years. I made money and was satisfied. Then came the financial crash in 1929, and not only did I lose considerable money, but my customers did also, through the securities I had sold them at high prices. This preyed on my mind, and I was near a severe nervous breakdown. One after another I saw seven of the best specialists, but none of them could help me. They told me that it was up to me through will-power to get a grip on myself. I did not know what to do. I had dizzy spells in the street, and was even afraid to ride in elevators.

But "man's extremity is God's opportunity." I suddenly remembered Christian Science and what it had done for me. I went to see a practitioner, and thanks to her loving help I was healed and the world looked bright to me again. One of the hymns that helped me especially was the one which says in part,
