Through the study of Christian Science a better understanding...
Through the study of Christian Science a better understanding of God, man, and the universe has unfolded to me. It has also taught me how disease and other discordant conditions in human experience can be overcome through right thinking based on divine Principle. It is with gratitude I acknowledge that this study has made me more considerate and loving toward others, for it has given me a deep faith in the Golden Rule.
Since joining a Christian Science church sixteen years ago, I have not tasted medicine or had medical treatment. It was not difficult to give up material remedies, because observation had convinced me that these were highly experimental and sometimes produced a state worse than the previous one. My first healing in Christian Science was of an abscessed tooth. My understanding was very small, but I knew that I had found the truth and I held to it. The pain was severe for a few days, but the healing came suddenly and the tooth was saved. On a previous occasion another tooth was treated for many weeks by a dentist who earnestly endeavored to heal an abscess but without avail. This tooth was extracted.
A rapidly developing case of what seemed to be influenza was quickly healed in three days. A condition of drowsiness when attending church services affected me at one period. While at a lecture one evening an instantaneous healing occurred, and thereafter I was master of this difficulty.
