[Original testimony in German]

In the spring of 1927 I became very ill

In the spring of 1927 I became very ill. As I belonged to a sick-fund organization I went to a doctor, who diagnosed the case as severe bladder trouble. It was his wish to consult a second physician, and he considered it necessary that an operation be performed immediately. To allay the pain for the time being he ordered baths and prescribed medicine; yet none of these remedies were made use of. My condition grew still worse. As I knew of Christian Science I telephoned a practitioner, asking her to call on me. She came at once, and seeing my need began to treat me. She found me in deepest darkness, yet after the very first treatment the healing began; I was able to think clearly once more.

But I had to learn patience, for other serious errors were constantly appearing. These were, however, all removed in a comparatively short time, for "Truth is an alterative in the entire system, and can make it 'every whit whole'" (Science and Health, p. 371). Untiringly, with great patience, faithfulness, and love Christian Science work was done for me by the practitioner; and the fruit of this work became manifest in that I felt fresh and strong, although physically I was weak and laid low. I never ceased to trust in the help of the Lord; indeed, I well knew that He alone could heal me; and so the complete healing came approximately two months later. Not only have I been healed of the bladder trouble, but I have also been furthered in spiritual understanding. I know that God alone accomplished that permanent healing, for God is the only physician.

I wish also to express thanks to Mrs. Eddy for giving us the Lesson-Sermons; for at a very critical moment I found in one of them the admonition, "Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable." As a result of obeying this command I was rewarded with complete healing.
