Having heard, about seven years ago, of some wonderful...
Having heard, about seven years ago, of some wonderful healings in Christian Science, I firmly believed it to be what I had been told it was; but my former religious teaching kept me in doubt for a few months while I pondered whether or not to take up the study. Finally I decided to turn to God, asking for something that would show me what to do. In a few days I was suffering from what I have been told was erysipelas, and I grew worse until my family feared I would pass on. I asked my husband if he would consent to Christian Science help, as we had used every medical aid advised for this trouble. He consented to do anything that would help me, so I called a practitioner on Wednesday and received immediate relief. I continued to improve, and on Friday I asked her to come to see me, as I desired to learn what this was that had helped me. She very kindly and patiently pointed out that God does not afflict His children, and also gave me quotations of Scripture to study. By Sunday I was able to attend church, and although I had to wait for a bus for some time in extremely cold weather, I suffered no ill effects. This has been permanent healing.
Since that time my family and I have experienced many healings, always finding in Christian Science the perfect remedy for every ill. Among the many healings we have had are those of measles, chicken pox, earache, toothache, mastoiditis accompanied by deafness, and the use of glasses, which I had worn for nineteen years. Many times we have been able to demonstrate supply and also protection in and from accidents. One boy was badly injured; the ligaments in his knee were torn, and although he could walk in two weeks his leg and foot were not straight. Many times I had to declare the truth when friends who did not understand Christian Science remarked that he would never walk normally again; but before long he could use that leg just as well as the other, and now it is entirely straight. Another boy was healed of crossed eyes, and for this healing I am very grateful, as it was a condition that everyone noticed and remarked about.
For the many physical healings I am indeed grateful; but more so for the healings of envy, jealousy, hatred, quick temper, and the many inharmonious traits of a very unpleasant disposition. Although there still is need for improvement, I am very grateful for the progress already made. I wish also to express my gratitude for all the activities of the Christian Science movement, for our Leader who gave us this great truth, for membership in a branch church, and for the love and unselfishness of the practitioners.
