Extracts from Reports of Christian Science Committees on Publication

Norway.

Several papers published articles translated from The Christian Science Monitor, all giving due credit to Christian Science. Thus the official organ of the Norwegian Employers Association translated and printed in full an editorial in the Monitor entitled "A Shorter Work Week?" One paper printed an extract of the report from the Annual Meeting of The Mother Church. One periodical had a very appreciative article about The Christian Science Monitor. Under the heading, "A Remarkable Newspaper," it said in part: "The news items are chosen from the viewpoint that it is the positive, constructive work that is worth mentioning. Crimes and sensation are given little space. As a tool for practical philanthropy the newspaper has brought great blessings and has—especially since the war—with great power worked to break down the artificial walls which hatred has raised between the nations. Even in the advertising department the fundamental view of the editors is prevailing. Advertisements not in agreement with the purposes of the movement are not accepted. The editors of the paper, readers, and advertisers seem to have agreed that text as well as advertisements shall be advisory and informing."
