Our Master said, "Freely ye have received, freely give."...

Our Master said, "Freely ye have received, freely give." I am one who has received innumerable blessings from the study and application of Christian Science, and I feel that it is a joy and privilege to tell others of some of the healings I have experienced.

About seven years ago, when we seemed at the end of things, surrounded by poverty and sickness and not knowing which way to turn, a cousin paid us a visit and introduced Christian Science to me. The last time we had seen her was two years before, when I had been completely given up by the doctor and was suffering from hemorrhage of the lungs. The doctor had told my people that I was beyond human aid, and they were to send for the certificate when I passed on, as everything was in order. In spite of the doctor's verdict, however, I recovered somewhat, although I was tired of life with its struggles, and I had not the least hope.

My cousin told us the little she knew about Christian Science and it appealed to me, so I was asked if I would care to attend a Wednesday evening testimony meeting. I can never tell anyone how I looked forward to attending the church. The peaceful feeling I experienced when I entered was wonderful; I seemed to let go my burdens and I asked what it was that made the people's faces shine so. The love shown to me by strangers made me think of Jesus' words, "I was a stranger, and ye took me in." After my first visit to the church I regained my lost hope; I was happier and freer; and I found I did not need the windows open to help me to breathe and sleep. Then I began to look forward to my meals and enjoy them—something I had not done for a long time. In fact mu whole outlook on life had changed because I had found what I had been seeking—the truth that makes one free.
