In your issue of April 4 there appeared a letter containing some misstatements about Mrs. Eddy and Christian Science.

An open poll to determine the twelve greatest women leaders in the United States during the last one hundred years was taken by the National Council of Woman and the Ladies' Home Journal for the Chicago Century of Progress Exposition. The name placed first was Mary Baker Eddy.

The teachings of Christian Science are based on the Bible and are not travesties of that book. Any sincere seeker of truth can prove this for himself. Christian Science shows mankind how to overcome the carnal mind, that so-called mind which seeks to prevent us from acting up to our highest ideals. Christian Science does not ignore matter, pain, or sin. The Bible tells us that God is Spirit and infinite, that is, everywhere present, and He made all that was made; consequently, all must be Spirit and spiritual, as like produces like. Matter is Spirit's opposite; and since God is All, that is, all power, all presence, and all knowledge—and the Bible says He is—then to Spirit there is no matter.
