I consider it a great privilege to be able to testify to...

I consider it a great privilege to be able to testify to the healing and regenerating power of Christian Science. I first became acquainted with it in 1927, but then considered it merely an interesting and very logical religion. I had begun to be full of doubt about a Supreme Being, and had long ceased to pray, thinking it was futile. I was far from well at that time, and was becoming steadily worse. Two years later I threw away all my medicine in utter disgust, having lost all confidence in it. I had been physically examined many times and had been given different kinds of treatments, but nothing helped. I was suffering from acute nervousness, nervous dyspepsia, and chronic constipation.

At last I decided to go to a Christian Science practitioner for help, and I shall never forget the uplifting and wonderful sense of joy I experienced at her first words: "Do you know that without God you could not walk across this room?" A whole new line of thought was opened up to me right there and then. In two weeks the healing was complete. For over fifteen years I had worn glasses for compound astigmatism (supposed to be inherited), and I suffered from dizziness and headaches if I left them off for more than a few hours at a time. I simply left them off without another thought, and have not needed them since.

One of my greatest fears was that of death and oblivion. I can honestly say that through the daily study of Christian Science I am overcoming that fear somewhat, and in general am less fearful of so-called evils. I am grateful for the lifting of a personal sense of responsibility in bringing up our little daughter. It is wonderful to know that she is entirely in God's hands. I am grateful for subsequent healings I have had, some instantaneous and others slow, of wasp bites, burns, sick headaches, influenza, and other discords. I am also grateful for the harmony which has been expressed in the families of several near relatives who have taken up Christian Science since I did, and for the happiness and more abundant life which has been brought to them. I am very grateful to Mary Baker Eddy for her selfless and untiring work in revealing her wonderful spiritual revelation; for all the periodicals and lectures; and for the dear practitioner, who has always been so loving and willing to help.
