I have long since wanted to send in my testimony, and I do so now with the hope that it may help someone. I had been in bed with tuberculosis of the bone for six years when Christian Science came to me. I had been in a sanitarium for five months, operated on a number of times, and finally it was said that nothing further could be done for me. I was sent home with the verdict that I might live a few months, or maybe years, but that I should never be any better. I knew a little of Christian Science. In fact, I had received a few treatments before leaving home, but put very little store by them, as I knew I was going to the hospital. However, all the time I was in the hospital I wished for my copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy.

As soon as I returned home I asked if I might have Christian Science treatment, to which the family consented. I was a wreck both mentally and physically. The operations had left me so nervous I could not sleep; and if I did, I had horrible dreams. I could not eat, and I wanted only the family in my room.

I shall never forget the peace and happiness that came with the first treatment. After the first two treatments I was sleeping like a baby, and although previously I had been afraid to go to sleep, with heartfelt gratitude I would say, "I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, Lord, only makest me dwell in safety." My appetite improved, and my life now was peaceful and joyous. I began to improve in every way. I had not been able to sit up for six years, but after having treatment for about ten days I was able to sit up—only a little while at first, but each day a little longer, until I could sit up all day.
