A recent issued of your valued paper contained, under the heading "Allen-Bushong Church Notes," erroneous statements about Christian Science and Mrs. Eddy which I should like to correct through the columns of your paper.

Your correspondent is mistaken in thinking that "Christian Science is neither Christian nor scientific." Christian Science is based upon the Scriptures and follows the teaching and practice of Christ Jesus, the master Christian. Furthermore, it is, as the name implies, exact knowledge of Christianity, being capable of proof. It accepts without reservation the teaching of the Bible that God is the only cause and creator; that man is made in His image and likeness; and that "God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good."

Those who are rightly informed know that Christian Science is more than "faith healing," as the term is commonly used, and it is not "exaggerated mental suggestion." As Mrs. Eddy says in "Miscellaneous Writings" (p. 97), it "is not a remedy of faith alone, but combines faith with understanding, through which we may touch the hem of His garment; and know that omnipotence has all power."
