In a reference to Christian Science a vicar, as reported in your issue of January 23, said that it was a modern type of cult that had sprung up since the war among the leisured classes. Although Mrs. Eddy, some sixty years ago (long before the war), discovered Christian Science, she did not found a new cult, but reestablished the religion of Jesus of Nazareth. The Christian Science church is evangelical, endeavoring to carry out all the commandments of Jesus, and to prove in and for this age that his Christianity is demonstrable.

Christian Science proves that true Christianity is demonstrable, the "signs following" being the hall mark of true believers; that it is universal, appealing to all classes, reaching them just where they are, and directing them Godward.

In her book "Miscellaneous Writings" (p. 252) Mrs. Eddy writes: "Christian Science is not only the acme of Science but the crown of Christianity. It is universal. It appeals to man as man; to the whole and not to a portion; to man physically, as well as spiritually, and to all mankind."
