Holding to God
There is no higher opportunity than that of changing from evil thinking, which appears at times so hopelessly to govern human consciousness, to pure thinking, which consists only of thoughts that come from God. Yet this is possible for everyone today. On this change in thought depends our deliverance from sin, illness, and death into new experiences which lead to the demonstration of life that is divine and free. In Godlike thinking there is nothing that merits punishment, discomfort, or destruction; and to advance into a life that is increasingly free from evil is a glorious achievement.
Jesus thought divinely, and this made his human life more divine than that of others. Consequently, to approach the Christ-life, which he revealed, we need to give continuous attention to our thinking. Our life changes and becomes divine in the measure that our thoughts reflect God.
"A knowledge of error and of its operations must precede that understanding of Truth which destroys error," we read on page 252 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. The reason we do not escape more easily from evil is that we do not see how it is controlling our thought. When we do recognize this, evil can be removed from our lives.
