With a deep sense of gratitude for absolute proof of the efficacy of Christian Science I am writings this testimony of healing. About fifteen years ago, while training in a hospital, I had my first healing in Christian Science. I was taken suddenly ill with typhoid, and in a weakened condition contracted a nose infection. An ulcer had formed by the optic nerve. For months I was under the care of physicians, and although I had several operations the trouble continued. When able to leave the hospital I visited the home of a friend whose recent contact with Christian Science had brought about a radical change in her thought. While there I was taken with chills and fever and asked her to call a physician, even though she lovingly suggested that Christian Science would help me. The physician was alarmed at my condition and left some medicine, stating he would call in the morning to take me back to the hospital. I could not retain the medicine, and again my friend offered to help me. I consented, and in a few hours every sign of fever left me. I slept soundly that night; and the next day, with the help of a loving practitioner, had a complete healing of the infection and ulcer. A short time later I stopped wearing glasses, after wearing them for many years.

Another beautiful healing was that of my two little girls, who were afflicted with smallpox. The younger girl responded quickly to treatment, but the elder one became so very ill that there was every appearance of her passing on. I tried to call for help, but could not reach a practitioner. Finally I closed the door of her room and prayed that I might be able to find the healing Christ, and quickly the healing came.

Two years ago, while we were out driving, our car was badly wrecked and I was seriously injured. I was taken to a hospital, where a X-ray picture showed several broken bones in the arm. The doctors wanted to put me to bed and stretch the arm for several days before setting it, so as to bring it back to its right length. Many fears were voiced, and I was advised of the seriousness of the condition. I was having help from a practitioner, and so clearly came the realization that I could rely on God that I took my stand and left the hospital. The arm was bandaged so as to hold it more firmly, and the metaphysical work was continued. In three weeks the healing was complete. A few months later my little son was born. The doctor who was present said he dreaded the call and expressed surprise at finding the child and me so perfectly well. He said he had no orders to give me, and that I could get up if I wanted to do so. He admitted that I had something more than he had to offer in his practice.
