In order to express my gratitude for Christian Science,...

In order to express my gratitude for Christian Science, I wish to tell of a few of the many benefits received through the study and application of its teachings. In 1923 I was instantaneously healed of a very annoying abdominal condition. At that time I was placed in a most trying situation of inharmony, which sometimes rendered me incapable of expressing calmness or kindness. While I was studying the Lesson-Sermons in the Christian Science Quarterly one day and trying to know what to do, the realization dawned that nothing could hinder me from reflecting Love, regardless of what seemed to be confronting me. And at once, with the desire and determination to let Love shine through, the healing came.

Two other healings which meant a great deal to me were of a fractured wrist bone and an infected toe. Freedom was realized and was complete after several days of steadfast refusal to think of or contemplate the condition, and persistent affirmation of man's perfection in Mind.

One Sunday morning, perplexed and pondering, I entered a Christian Science church. I heard not a word of the service until, like a trumpet call, these words read from the Explanatory Note in the Quarterly awakened me: "A sermon undivorced from truth, uncontaminated and unfettered by human hypotheses, and divinely authorized." My ponderings had all been fettered by human hypotheses. I realized then something of what a Christian Science service means to mankind; the importance of every statement Mrs. Eddy has given us for our guidance. And as a great sense of gratitude filled my consciousness for this priceless gift, a burdening fear was shed.
