While at the seaside one August my two children had a beautiful healing from what seemed to human sense a serious blow caused by a lad who was repairing a boat near by where we were sitting. He was fixing a piece of iron on the keel of a boat, and not being sufficiently bent it required some very heavy hammering. When he was giving a final blow the hammer slipped from his hand and hit the elder child on the face, causing a bad abrasion, but the baby, then ten months old, caught the full force on his forehead. The result was terrible to see, and the wound caused great fear to come over me. People around advised me to take the baby at once to a doctor, but I decided to take him to a Christian Science practitioner who was very close at hand, and who immediately calmed my own and the elder child's fear, assuring us that all is well with God's children. I then realized the power and ever-presence of God, good, and fear entirely left me. While I was reading passages from "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, the baby awoke from the sleep he had fallen into immediately after the blow, looking quite normal and as sunny as usual. The swelling had gone down, and by evening the wound had completely healed, to the amazement of a lady in the house who had only a slight knowledge of Christian Science, and who had seen the baby in the morning.

My gratitude is difficult to express for this experience, also for many other blessings received; for the clearer understanding of God, and the loving help always so very willingly given by members of a branch church.
