Star-Democrat

This letter is prompted by an editorial on "faith-healing" which appeared in recent issue of the Star-Democrat, and its purpose is to thank you for the kind attitude and knowledge of the subject evidenced in your clear and correct statements about Christian Science. It is a rare pleasure to find an editorial writer who takes the trouble to inform himself before attempting so delicate a thing as an explanation of another man's religion. In your statement that Christian Scientists rely upon Truth to heal, your capitalization of that word is particularly significant as indicating more than a superficial knowledge of its meaning, as it is used in Christian Science. Christian Scientists are aware that Christ Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life." They find nothing in the Scriptures to indicate that he ever used drugs, or that he referred the sick to medical science. But he did say, "Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." You are therefore correct in informing your readers that Christian Scientists, who are endeavoring to be obedient followers of Christ Jesus, know and use no other way than that Truth.
