It is with a deep sense of gratitude that I give my testimony to the healing power of Truth as taught in Christian Science. In 1911 we went to live beside a Christian Science practitioner in a city in one of the western states, and about this time I began to study Christian Science. Six months after this a baby girl was born to us, and I can truthfully say that the birth was painless. Money seemed to be very limited in our home; but I had the thought with me that God was my supply, and we gathered enough together to pay the nurse for one week. On the fourth day I was up when the doctor called. He asked me what I was doing out of bed, and I told him my nurse was leaving me in a few days and I had to take up my duties. He remarked, "If you ever get over this, you will be the first woman I have ever heard of doing so." I had no discordant after effect.

A few years after this my husband was taken very seriously ill, and at one time seemed to be passing on. I persuaded him to try Christian Science. He agreed to do so, and was able to return to his work in two weeks. I knew that our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, taught that God is our Life, and the laws of materia medica were not real laws. This understanding enabled me to help in the healing of two of our children of diphtheria, although the doctor claimed that one of them was a "carrier" and had her placed in an isolation hospital. Through the help of a practitioner she was healed. Whooping cough, mumps, measles, St. Vitus's dance, eczema, and rupture have been healed in our home; and when influenza was prevalent in 1918, our children and my husband were healed in a few days with the loving help of a practitioner.
