With a heart filled with gratitude, I wish to tell of the many blessings which have come to me since taking up the study of Christian Science.

About nine years ago, it was presented to me by a neighbor. I was a very sick and unhappy woman at the time, yet I thought very casually about it for several months. I had undergone an operation for phlebitis in its worst form, but had not been relieved but rather became worse; and I was simply dragging myself about, looking very ill. On one occasion, when meeting me in this helpless state, my friend again spoke to me, and told me more about God's love, saying, "He never intends one of His children to suffer." These words struck me so forcibly that I thought I must find out about that God. On the following Wednesday I went her to a testimony meeting, and shall never forget the peace that I experienced. I seemed to have only one desire, and that was to rush home and retain all I had heard, and to find out more of his loving God. My friend lent me a copy of the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, and I at once commenced to read and try to understand. Before I had read the textbook through, the phlebitis, which I had had for twenty-five years, disappeared. At the same time many minor ailments also vanished, and the great blessings which came my way were numerous. Since that time I have had the privilege of association with Christian Science friends, and have experienced wonderful help by seeing the importance of adhering to the rules laid down for our guidance by our revered Leader. I have been able to see how to give up false gods for the one God. I found I had been making gods of my home, my house, my children; that I had been seeking all "these things" first, instead of the kingdom of God. As my thinking changed, so my troubles disappeared, and now I know that the words of the Psalmist are true: "The Lord God is a sun and shield: the Lord will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly."

For nine years I have never been in bed from any form of sickness, whereas this was formerly a frequent occurrence. I have not had to resort to any medicine during the whole of that time; Truth has met my every need. For all the physical help derived by myself and the members of my household I am intensely grateful, but I am still more grateful for the better understanding of God and the Bible, which has come to me.
