The Law of God
It is now almost universally recognized that we live in a universe governed by law. The false notion, formerly held, that we are governed by chance or luck, has been largely superseded by the recognition that all right conditions are controlled and induced by law.
In a certain museum is a wooden instrument which for hundreds of years was used by South Sea Islanders to send messages from one island to another, sometimes many miles apart. It was used in a primitive and limited way, but it operated according to rule; and the only limitation of its use was in the lack of understanding and utilization of the rule. Had the islanders understood the nature of radio communication as it is understood to-day, they could have availed themselves of the same possibilities and beneficent results.
Christian Science defines God as divine Principle; and divine Principle can operate only through unchangeable law. Christian Science reveals and enables one to demonstrate God's law. God is good, and His law is good. God is infinite intelligence, and His law operates intelligently. God is Spirit, and His law is spiritual. God is infinite, and His law is infinite. God's law is ever operative, ever available, universal; it never needs to be amended or altered; it is independent of time, circumstance, place, or condition. If God's law were generally acknowledged and obeyed by men, the kingdom of heaven would have come on earth.
