[Written for the Sentinel]

"Father, I thank thee"

I thank Thee for this day
Of quiet rest and prayer.
I thank Thee for the truth
That Thou art everywhere.

I thank Thee for the light
Which shines upon the Word,
I thank Thee for each trial;
Thou blest, revered, adored!

I thank Thee for the love
That crowns each gift from Thee;
I thank Thee as I prove
That Love alone sets free.

I thank Thee now for Life,
Abundant, full, and free;
For perfect, boundless power,
And heavenly liberty.

I thank Thee, Father —this must be
My song throughout eternity.
