Recently quiet a number of leaflets containing an attack on Christian Science were distributed in Maryville.

The trouble with such questionable literature is that it invariably displays an utter ignorance, on the part of its authors, of the topic they have the temerity to criticize. No one can possibly set himself up as a fair critic of Christian Science until he first lays aside prejudice and bigotry, approaches the subject from an unbiased and honest standpoint, and gains some understanding of its teachings. That celebrated author Mark Twain once assailed Christian Science, but later, after investigating its teachings acknowledged his mistake. This has also been the experience of many other writers and teachers of renown.

The uninterrupted growth of Christian Science is due wholly to the good it accomplishes. The vast number of sick who are healed and of sinners who are reformed through its ministrations bear testimony to it as being a vital, demonstrable religion. Its critics can never harm or impede it, for there is Scriptural authority for every statement it sets forth.
