Christian Science came into my life about thirteen years ago. At that time I was suffering from stomach trouble of long standing. I had been to many doctors and tried many combination diets, but without any beneficial results, and it looked as though an operation might be the only solution.

About this time I met a friend who introduced Christian Science to me and advised me to see a practitioner. This I did, and in one treatment was instantaneously healed; and for this I have always felt very grateful. Strange as it may seem, this instantaneous healing was a temporary drawback to my progress in Christian Science, because I conceived the idea that I had found a place where I could get something for nothing. Later, in a demonstration over the liquor habit, I learned a valuable lesson. After many attempts, and while on the verge of a nervous breakdown, I was finally shown through the help of a patient practitioner that the healing depended somewhat on my search for the truth and my effort to demonstrate it, and that I must have a better understanding of God. As this thought was developed through Christian Science, it changed my thinking to better and higher ideas, until the desire for liquor entirely left me. Upon the same basis I have had many demonstrations mentally, physically, and financially. I realize that I have many more difficulties still to overcome, but Christian Science has made me better qualified to fight the next battle.

I am very grateful for what Mrs. Eddy has given to the world, and for the understanding of God and His precious love which I have received through Christian Science.
