Many beautiful experiences have come to me in past years; and one which took place about five years ago remains in memory as a definite demonstration of the ever-presence and power of the one God.

Early on a summer morning the ice man came in with a hundred pounds of ice balanced on his shoulder. I stood by with a hand on the cover of the refrigerator, that it might not fall with so great a weight. The ice was swung to the top, when suddenly it slipped from the grasping tongs, striking my leg just below the knee, and slid to the floor. The pain and faintness seemed overwhelming at first. None of the truths I had studied seemed available to my thought; all was vague and shadowy. It seemed a long time—but it was not—before I heard someone ask, "Are you hurt?" and someone answer, "No." It was my own voice, but it seemed to be another's This roused me somewhat, and I endeavored to recall the truths I knew I should remember. At first came, "Man is spiritual, not material;" soon there followed the reasoning that man, being spiritual, is in the presence of Spirit, where all is good. Gradually I recalled, one after another, many statements of truth from the Bible and "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, which were comforting and reassuring. I was soon able to continue my usual duties without interruption, and was blessed with a wonderful sense of the nearness of God and the protection His presence gives.

A few days later a member of the family insisted that the leg be examined. This was done; and the report was that the shin bone had been splintered for a length of ten inches, but that it did not seem like a recent injury, as it was so completely healed.
