While attending to my household duties one day, I burned...
While attending to my household duties one day, I burned my hand. For a few moments the pain seemed so intense I could hardly stand it, and I began to declare the truth aloud. When I had finished my mental work, there was no more pain or soreness, and only a slight scar remained the next day. Our little girl was healed in two treatments of mumps; and whooping cough was also met in a very short time, seemingly under the most trying circumstances. I was so grateful for this healing, for all communications with the practitioner took several days, and, so far as I knew, I was the only Christian Scientist in the town, visiting at the time in the home of a relative who was not interested in Christian Science.
One day while driving down town with a relative the automobile in which we were riding collided with a street car. When the motorman stopped the street car, the crowd gathered immediately and someone stepped up to me and asked, "Are you hurt? Why, I thought you were both killed." It seemed I had but a moment to do my work before this happened, but we are told in the Bible, "The word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword." And Mrs Eddy says, on page 424 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," "Under divine Providence there can be no accidents, since there is no room for imperfection in perfection."
I am so grateful that I am learning the true source of supply, and that only as we rely on God is our every need met. I am so grateful for the privilege of class instruction by a loyal teacher of Christian Science. I am grateful to Christ Jesus the Way-shower, and to our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, for her wonderful writings, including the Manual. I am so grateful for our daily newspaper, the Monitor, whose healing mission is for all mankind. I am grateful for the Publishing Society, and to the Board of Directors of The Mother Church, for their untiring efforts to give out the unadulterated truth.
