Life
Jesus declared, "This is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent." We are proving, through every demonstration in Christian Science, that all we are, all we have, is what we know about God and His Christ. It is plain to be seen, then, that we cannot really know sickness, discord, or limitation, because they are not to be found in God. The more deeply we go into Christian metaphysics, the more we find that we can only really be conscious of good; for in reality good is all there is to be conscious of, since God is good, and God is infinite—filling all space. In the proportion that we demonstrate the reality of good, the unreality of evil becomes apparent.
Life is God, and God is Mind. In "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 265) Mrs. Eddy writes, "Man is the offspring, not of the lowest, but of the highest qualities of Mind." This, then, must be the substance which man expresses. Man does not live in so-called matter, nor because of matter. The spiritual idea can no more be touched by matter or error than can a sunbeam be affected by the darkness into which and through which it shines. Spiritual ideas reflect divine activity and are wisely governed and directed; hence, they must of necessity work together in perfect accord and harmony. The divine Mind endows, nourishes, sustains, and directs every faculty of man. Man stands as God's work, and meets every demand God makes upon him. This truth, coming into human thought and governing it, will be expressed through every avenue of human activity.
We cannot express that which is not first accepted or entertained in thought, consciously or unconsciously. What we conceive, we seem to bring forth. We reap what we sow. The realization of divine Mind and its qualities, through right thinking, is the Christ-idea that supplies food, clothing, home, friends, business—all that we need on our journey from sense to Soul. As everything is thought before it is manifested, it can be clearly seen that the better the thought the better the manifestation.
