Many years ago I was convinced that I was very ill, and knowing nothing about Christian Science at that time, I consulted a physician, who pronounced the illness to be caused by congestion of the capillaries at the base of the brain. After a couple of months of treatment I went to an oculist, who told me that I also had double vision of the eyes, and that it would be a year before I would be able to use my eyes for reading. The situation did not seem very encouraging, especially when a couple of months later the physician told me that medicine had lost its point of contact with me and it was now a question between my Maker and myself. In this he was correct, for through a friend I was led into Christian Science, and through the efforts of a faithful and loving practitioner the false sense of double vision of the eyes was healed instantaneously. I gave up the use of glasses, which I had worn for twelve years or so. The other condition responded within two weeks, so that I was able to return to my work once more, while still continuing my treatments to some extent.

Looking back over the intervening years, I have found that all is Mind and Mind's ideas, that each and every problem arising in human experience is but another opportunity for us to prove the allness of God and His loving care for His children, spiritual ideas, and we find that consciousness is the battle ground where the battle is fought between Truth and error.

I am grateful for the understanding which Christian Science has given me of God—as an incorporeal God whom we may know as ever present, as an ever operative fixed divine Principle, which governs all of its spiritual ideas with love, truth, justice, and mercy. I am grateful for the life of Jesus, for through him God gave the world the Christ-idea, which heals and saves from error's seeming reality. I am grateful for the life of Mary Baker Eddy, for it was she who gave God's further revelations to mankind in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures." This "Key" has opened the Bible to thousands upon thousands, and men now rejoice that they are able to read God's Word with a clearer spiritual sense and understanding. I am also grateful for The Mother Church and its activities.
