Twenty-two years is a long time to wait to express, through our Christian Science periodicals, my gratitude to God for a healing that brought so much joy and peace into a home that had offered its all of material goods in exchange for health during nine years of invalidism and semi-invalidism without receiving any good in return. I am grateful, however, for the suffering which at last found me without relief, since the many physicians who had experimented on me could only offer me by way of hope three operations, with no promise of a healing.

Just at this time Christian Science came to me in answer to prayer. I was ready for it, and the healing came quickly. My joy knew no bounds; and since that first healing, in 1905, Christian Science has been my only medicine. During these twenty-two years I have had many opportunities to prove the efficacy of Christian Science. It has met my every human need; helped me over the rough places; stilled the troubled waters of mortal sense; guided, protected, and illumined the way thus far, and will the rest of the journey from sense to Soul. Words, either written or spoken, are poor expressions of gratitude for what God has done for me and for my family through the study and application of Christian Science.

I am grateful for my membership in The Mother Church, and in a branch church, for the many privileges extended to me within the organization, for the periodicals and the Editors, and for the watchfulness and care manifested in each issue. I am grateful for the faithfulness of our practitioners, for class instruction, and for our beloved teachers. I am grateful to God for Christ Jesus the Way-shower, for Mary Baker Eddy, who caught a glimpse of the "greater works than these," which Jesus prophesied, and who showed us how to follow the Way-shower through demonstration in obedience to his command, "And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; they shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover."
