Thinking Things Out
The practice of Christian Science furnishes the right solution to every human problem. It does not matter how trivial the question, how complicated and involved the problem, or how few or how many people may be concerned; since God is omniscient, omnipotent, and omnipresent, there exists at all times, everywhere, the wisdom and the ability necessary to solve all problems in accord with the spiritual facts of being. Since that is the case, we are all confronted with the same task—namely, to ascertain what these facts are; and having ascertained what they are, we all have the same thing to do, namely, to conform our thinking and our lives to them.
Now the supreme fact, the basis upon which every problem must be solved, is that Spirit, God, "is light, and in him is no darkness at all;" or as Mrs. Eddy states in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 275): "The starting-point of divine Science is that God, Spirit, is All-in-all, and that there is no other might nor Mind,—that God is Love, and therefore He is divine Principle." God, then, is the Being, or Principle, in which everything originates and exists, from which everything derives its identity, nature, and qualities. God is forever and always the same—whole, complete, perfect. Man is the effect of divine Principle, through whom are expressed the wholeness, completeness, and perfection of infinite Being. As Mrs. Eddy further says on the same page of the Christian Science textbook: "All substance, intelligence, wisdom, being, immortality, cause, and effect belong to God;" and she adds: "No wisdom is wise but His wisdom; no truth is true, no love is lovely, no life is Life but the divine; no good is, but the good God bestows." These are eternal facts; and God makes these facts apparent through man
Let us see how we can apply this teaching if, for instance, we are confronted with a problem of disease. We are to cling to the truth about God and man which it reveals, until we see that disease is no more true about man than it is about God. Disease is a false belief; and it is destroyed by knowing its falsity, through the knowledge of the truth about God and man.
