Having just completed a university course, I feel particular...

Having just completed a university course, I feel particular gratitude for the inspiration and guidance I have received through Christian Science during my school life, especially in the last two years' work, which was taken under certain disadvantages after a lapse of a few years since graduation from a normal school.

I had been reared in Christian Science, and had learned in the Sunday school that human ambition is erring, because it is human will, and that all knowledge (so called) of material things will pass away. As a result, during the time I was in normal school I could not accept as truth most of that which was taught, because I knew that truth is eternal. I shared the unrest of many young people in Christian Science who, understanding the nothingness of matter, realize the futility of seeking happiness in matter. A few years later the opportunity to continue study presented itself, and this time I consciously worked for guidance. It was unfolded to me that as a Christian Scientist I could meet the requirements of the schools, and in addition thereto could prove the Principle of Christian Science, which is divine, and which not only meets every human need but also leads man out of the dream of matter into the realization of his true nature.

In the middle of my course I was led to change my major subject, a change which proved to be a wise and inspiring step. I can never tell how much Christian Science has meant to me in this experience. I have been able to see that progress, which is a law of God, leads us step by step from the point where Truth finds us in overcoming the claims of matter, such a limitation of time, intelligence, ability, and opportunity. It has opened up a great sense of good to my thought, and brought a realization of the universality of Truth to my consciousness. With this has come a deeper faith in God, good, and a greater love for mankind. I have learned a greater appreciation of the lives and works of good men and women of all times, and especially the life and work of our revered Leader, Mary Baker Eddy. I also appreciate more deeply the consecration of our Christian Science practitioners, teachers, and lectures.
