A writer in a recent issue of your paper answered his own question, "Has mind power over matter, as Christian Scientists allege?" He added that "mind won't cure cancer, put a filling in a tooth, heal an abscess, or set a broken bone." When Christian Scientists speak of the power of Mind over matter, it is the divine Mind to which they refer. They think of Mind as a synonym for God. What cannot God do? Who shall say that there are some of our diseases and troubles which He cannot or will not heal? Through the understanding of God, the creator of all, and the application of that knowledge, as taught in Christian Science, each and all of the healings the writer above mentioned has named as impossible have been wrought. Whether in Red Wing there have been cures of cancer through the means of Christian Science, I do not know; but in Minneapolis there have been.

The substance of decayed teeth has been restored, although such cases are not common. Broken bones have been set without the employment of material means. As men and women progress in their understanding of Christian Science, they will come to practice mental surgery more generally. The student of mathematics first gains some mastery of arithmetic before attempting algebra or geometry. The healing of an abscess is not uncommon enough to attract special attention. Such a great number of people have been healed through Christian Science of such a wide variety of diseases and afflictions that convincing proofs of cures are easily obtainable by anybody interested.

"Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits: who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases."
