I have been interested in Christian Science about five years now, and am grateful for all the blessings, healings, and peace it has brought to my home. I should like to tell of a beautiful healing that took place in my sister's home some time ago. My mother, who is over seventy-eight years of age, became ill. A doctor was called, and after nine days of treatment a consultation was held. The doctors pronounced her incurable, and said it was only a matter of time with her, as she was getting softening of the brain, hardening of the arteries, and her heart and kidneys were not functioning properly. While they were saying these things I knew they were false, unreal, and not caused by divine Love, and so were not true. We decided to apply Christian Science. While my sister was gone for the practitioner I went to my mother's bedside and stated the truth to her audibly.

When the practitioner arrived she reassured us, insisting that all is Life. She spoke with such authority that I became strong, and all fear left me. The work was done, and it awakened my mother from that dream shadow so that after a few days she was able to reason. At her request I read some of our hymns and the writings of our Leader, Mary Baker Eddy. In a short time she was able to walk down the stairway of ten steps, only having her arm supported. She is now in perfect health, is well and quite strong.

About a year after Christian Science came into my life I had a terrible cough and cold. I started to treat it by reading the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, but I did not seem to see any progress, so a sense of fear came over me and I returned to medicine. At the end of a week's medical treatment I became worse. One morning an attack of coughing seized me which was so severe that I became very much exhausted. I then got up and took my textbook. On opening it I found these words (p. 228): "There is no power apart from God. Omnipotence has all-power and to acknowledge any other power is to dishonor God." I came so forcibly to me that the all-power of God is able to do all things that I did not think or worry further about my physical condition, but went on reading. I found through my study that we must place ourselves under the sole care and protection of God, whatever the problems and troubles are. I was perfectly well in a week.
