When I first heard of Christian Science I had, for five years, been suffering from severe stomach trouble accompanied with dreadful pain; and the doctors had not been able to cure me. After one Christian Science treatment I was perfectly healed. This occurred sixteen years ago, and no trace of the complaint has returned. We have lived in the Dutch East Indies for eleven years, and Christian Science has been our only help in our difficulties, and at the birth as well as in the education of our child. When he was three years of age a lady told me we ought to see a physician, for she thought the boy had a severe rupture. I decided to consult a surgeon. He told me to bring the child to the hospital next day and to have him operated on because of the rupture. On leaving the surgeon I went straight to a Christian Science practitioner. After I had talked with her I was convinced that she would know the truth for the boy, and peace came over me. Though I had to bathe the child once or twice every day, the outward signs of the rupture were never again apparent to me, and it suddenly dawned upon me that the abnormal condition had disappeared; and it never has come back. Our son is now eleven years old.

We cannot be too grateful that Christian Science teaches us how to educate our children without the usual human fears. As a child I myself had many fears, but through the understanding of the truth as taught in Christian Science they have been conquered.

For four years we lived in the jungles of South Sumatra, the Dutch East Indies, with no Europeans near. Though there were many wild animals in the neighborhood and my husband was obliged to be away from home all day and sometimes even all night, I never experienced any fear, because I always realized that God, our protector, was with us. After our return to Holland I began to suffer from severe attacks of dizziness, and I was unable to be in the company of other people or even to walk on the street by myself. I asked for Christian Science treatment; but soon I understood that I had to work the problem out myself, recognizing that it was just the fear of these attacks of dizziness which held me back from demonstrating the truth. When attending the Christian Science services I hardly knew how to control myself, but during silent prayer peace always came to me; and so every service strengthened me, and it was not very long before I managed to walk in the busy streets again, knowing that I walked with God, and that it was God who supported me and kept me from falling. In this way I was able to overcome the error. I am sincerely thankful for all the services I attended, and for the friends who have been given to me.
