Each recurring Thanksgiving Day brings a deeper sense of gratitude for the blessings of the Christian Science Sunday School, and a greater appreciation of the wonderful work being accomplished through this activity of The Mother Church. It was on a Thanksgiving Day that I first asked permission to attend a Christian Science Sunday School. Although my mother had been a student of Christian Science for a number of years, and we children had received many blessings through its application, we had not been sent to the Sunday school because of opposition in the home. Permission was given to attend, but little did I realize then the greatness of the gift.

One Sunday, after receiving a beautiful explanation in Sunday school, I realized that I had been instantaneously healed, during the explanation, of an unhappy and violent temper. I was taught how to apply Christian Science to my school work and to my relations with teachers and classmates. Discord, resentment, fear, doubt, and failure were overcome, and I experienced peace, love, joy, confidence, and success.

Our beloved Leader wisely safeguarded the Sunday school work in the Church Manual (Article XX), and I am grateful that the teachers by whom I was taught were obedient to this By-law.
