Christian Science has always been my help, ever since I...
Christian Science has always been my help, ever since I was a little child, and I am so thankful for the privilege which I had of attending the Christian Science Sunday School. The truths expressed and realized there each Sunday dispelled any clouds of sense which might have been hovering in my thought.
Recently I had special cause to be grateful for the truth. I was healed of a nervous breakdown which kept me in bed four months, and was seemingly serious. I am grateful for this trial, for out of the mist of sense I arose to a higher state of consciousness. Through demonstration the truth became tangible to me.
I am grateful for the twenty-third psalm and for its spiritual interpretation, as given on page 578 of the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. It has been such a help to me to realize that divine Love is our ever present tender and loving Shepherd, who answers every deserving prayer, who knows our needs and constantly supplies them—our Shepherd, who feeds us with the heavenly manna of Truth, keeps off the wolves of fear, and leads us "beside the still waters."
I am so thankful for the Christian Science Hymnal, and especially for Mrs. Eddy's hymns. I have been healed instantly of severe pain through singing the "Mother's Evening Prayer" (Poems, pp. 4, 5).
We should indeed be very grateful to God for sending the truth to us, and to Mrs. Eddy, who was spiritual enough to receive it. I am thankful for her great love for all mankind, and for her unselfish labor in giving us this truth. I am grateful that I have learned that "I can of mine own self do nothing," but that "I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me," through the realization that man as God's image expresses Life, Truth, Love, perfection, strength, harmony, joy, unselfishness, purity, and wisdom. I am so thankful that God is All-in-all, and that we all can express His love now, for "now are we the sons of God."
Christian Science is everything to me, and I cannot find words to express my full gratitude.
