With a heart full of gratitude I wish to testify to the many blessings which have come into my life since taking up the study of Christian Science about sixteen years ago. My whole life has been changed, and the lives of the little ones given into my charge have been happy, harmonious, and free. At the time I became interested, my first boy, then a baby of six months, was suffering from what the doctors called malnutrition, and as I was unable to find any food to agree with the child he was rapidly losing weight and beyond human aid. I knew nothing of Christian Science, but was advised to give it a trial by one who was quite a stranger to me. I was surely hungry and thirsty for this blessed truth; for after listening to all this dear Scientist had to say, I lost no time in applying for help in Christian Science. From the first treatment the child began to improve rapidly, and in two weeks he was quite a different baby.
To say that I was grateful for this first healing would be putting it mildly. A little later on the earnest study of the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, was taken up. From being a discontented, unhappy young woman, I began to "look within" and to see ever so much to be overcome in my thought. But as our beloved Leader, Mrs. Eddy, says in "Miscellaneous Writings" (p. 118), "Be of good cheer; the warfare with one's self is grand; it gives one plenty of employment, and the divine Principle worketh with you,—and obedience crowns persistent effort with everlasting victory." To be sure, it has given me "plenty of employment;" but it is glorious employment, this bringing error into subjection to Truth. The healings which we have had have been numerous; and while some of the ailments were of a so-called organic nature, they too have been readily overcome, proving that "with God all things are possible."
My earnest desire is to attain greater self-abnegation, so as to be of service to my fellow-man. For membership in The Mother Church, for class instruction, and for the privilege of reading in a branch church I am very grateful.
