[Written for the Sentinel]

"Be still, and know"

From out the night of error's subtle thralldom
Seek thou the way, though sad thy steps and slow.
List to the voice of tenderest affection:
Fear not, dear child, be ever still, and know.

Each upward step will lift thee toward perfection;
Joyous the battle with each false belief.
'Gainst sin and sickness thou hast full protection;
Know them as naught! 'T will bring a swift relief.

"Be still, and know" the allness of God's being,
In which no signs of sin and sorrow rest.
Through this clear prism thy true nature viewing,
Perfect, eternal—this is God's behest.
