Repentance which Availeth

Earnest thinkers have generally recognized that repentance is something which at some time must enter into everyone's experience. There is no honest heart but knows that there is much to be corrected in the thinking and living of mankind; and how can this correction be brought about unless repentance prepares the way?

When Christian Science knocks at one's mental door, it may find the individual unready to admit immediately the need for repentance. Although one may be suffering from divers discomforts and difficulties, the main desire often seems to be that these may be removed. There may appear to be small inclination to allow the evil mental cause in one's thinking to be uncovered and eliminated.

All men know that unless error is seen as error, no one will awake to the need for repentance. It is therefore all-important that each one gain that understanding of Truth and Love which Christian Science ever reveals, and which can alone expose the falsities of human belief, which must be repented of and relinquished before the truth of being can appear.
