Signs of the Times

[E. W. Moore, in the Christian Advocate, New York, New York]

Suppose we were to give the same time daily to the reading of Scripture which we now give to the reading of newspapers and magazines, should we not make rapid strides in our knowledge of Scripture? Let me press this point upon you! Salvation, we all know, is through faith, but "knowledge of the Scriptures," it has been well said, "is by works." Do we know our Bibles? Depend upon it, it is ignorance of Scripture that makes it so uninteresting! The less you know of a thing, the less you care to know; but the more you know of a subject, the more you long to know. It is even so with the Bible.
