I am so grateful for the benefits we have received through Christian Science that I feel impelled to relate one of our many healings. In May, 1924, our only son, a lad of sixteen, was riding with a band of cattle in the foothills of the Sierra Nevadas when he seemed to have a very sudden mental collapse. The owner of the cattle took him to the nearest doctor and telephoned to his father. Our son's condition seemed to be so very critical that we brought him home immediately. Two days later we took him to a physician in our nearest town, who examined him and said that all he could advise was a sanitarium. As the boy grew steadily worse, his father summoned the best known physician in this part of California, who ordered him to be taken to a sanitarium. At the end of a week the doctor and nurses pronounced him hopelessly insane. They had him strapped in his cot, and advised us to take him to a public institution. They said he could not talk or eat, and that he never closed his eyes or slept except under the influence of an opiate; they said also that his kidneys and bowels were paralyzed. My husband knew nothing about Christian Science, but our situation was so desperate that we agreed to trust our case to God. We went to a Christian Science practitioner, and there was a noticeable improvement at once. In just one month our boy was perfectly well, both mentally and physically.

We have a deep sense of gratitude to Christ Jesus and to Mary Baker Eddy, who has taught us in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" that God's loving power is always available to mankind in direst need.—(Mrs.) Gertrude Virtue Vail, Georgetown, California.
