I came to Christian Science for healing, and found it through reading the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. After two years I gave up training to be a nurse in a medical and surgical hospital, because of ill health. I underwent a major abdominal operation, but still grew no better. About this time chronic stomach trouble developed from which I suffered for several years, becoming almost a physical and mental wreck. I went to two specialists, who said my stomach had fallen six inches and was causing the indigestion. I underwent treatment which caused me to be in bed for several days afterwards, and also had a strict diet to follow. Chiropractic treatment was tried, too, but to no avail. I was troubled with constipation, and wore glasses constantly to prevent dreadful headaches and nearsightedness.

That is where Christian Science found me; and I can never be grateful enough for its healing power. A friend, seeing my great need of healing, said, "Why don't you try Christian Science?" I knew nothing of Christian Science, but thought it was some kind of spiritualism. The friend gave me some copies of the Christian Science Sentinel, and I found through them that I needed the textbook, which a friend brought me from a library. I was healed of the stomach trouble and the need of glasses through the reading of that textbook, and found I could work every day and all day in the house and garden. The constipation yielded later; and I am striving, and gradually learning, to overcome a faulty disposition through the study of the Christian Science literature and the wonderful light it throws on the Bible.

I am grateful for membership in a Christian Science Society, and for such service and help as I am able to give. I want to say to those struggling to understand the textbook that my understanding of it was very small when I was healed so wonderfully after much suffering. In my case there seemed to be a great need and desire for healing, a and a childlike faith and trust in all I found in Science and Health.
