"Beware of false prophets"

On page 569 of the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," Mrs. Eddy writes, "Every mortal at some period, here or hereafter, must grapple with and overcome the mortal belief in a power opposed to God." Every earnest student of this wonderful Science has commenced this struggle. How rapidly are we progressing? An honest analysis will probably reveal to us the truthfulness of our Leader's words in Science and Health (p. 89), where she states unequivocally that "we are all capable of more than we do."

Why do we not do more? There must be a reason. If while driving along the highway one's car suddenly stops, the wise driver will immediately endeavor to locate the trouble. He will look at the gasoline tank to make sure that there is fuel. Then he will intelligently go to the next possible cause of the difficulty; and so on until he locates the fault. Then he will remedy it.

One cause of mental stagnation is our proneness to listen to false prophets; and a false prophet is one whose prophecy is a lie against Truth, and against God's creation, man.
