I am deeply grateful to God for leading me to Christian Science
I am deeply grateful to God for leading me to Christian Science. It is the greatest blessing that has come into my life.
When I first heard of Christian Science I was suffering from acute indigestion accompanied by an itching rash all over my body; from chronic constipaton; and from a varicose condition in one leg which necessitated its being very tightly bandaged and being rested very often throughout the day. I was told that Christian Science could heal me; so, as medical science offered little or no hope, I went to a Christian Science practitioner for treatment. My healing was very slow, and often I felt discouraged; but I was glad afterwards that it had been slow, as it caused me to study more than I should otherwise have done.
Constipation was the first to go. Indigestion left me when I realized that it was not the actual food I ate which caused me so much pain and discomfort, but my strong belief that it did so. Since that time, sixteen years ago, I have not suffered from indigestion. The varicose condition was the most difficult to overcome, that being due to the great fear I had of it, and I could not leave off the bandage. It was not until I had been studying Christian Science for eight months that, one morning when I was about to put on the bandage, I suddenly realized that the condition was mental and that no bandage was required. I have walked with perfect freedom ever since. It became clear to me that the healing which had taken place was, primarily, a spiritual healing, which was subsequently manifested in a physical healing. I am extremely grateful for the good health I have enjoyed ever since, but am more grateful for the spiritual enlightenment and mental regeneration which Christian Science began in me and is still continuing.
