The Lectures

Introductions to Lectures

Portsmouth, England (First Church).

Lecturer: Miss Lucia C. Coulson; introduced by Horace Rowland Shepherd, who said: —

When sending forth his disciples into the world, Christ Jesus gave them these very definite words of command: "Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give." This to-day is the mission and purpose of Christian Science; and its followers are earnestly endeavoring to give as they have received. For all who have gained a knowledge of this Science, even in small measure, have received and are receiving untold blessings. During the eight years in which I have been associated with Christian Science it has been my experience to share some of these blessings. During this period period medicines of every kind have been relegated to the past, and eyeglasses have been dispensed with. These same teachings which our Master practiced and taught his followers to emulate, are now available to humanity; and the glorious promises contained in the Bible have been made practicable to this present age by Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, who in her various writings has shown how these promises can be fulfilled.
