I should like to relate an almost instantaneous healing which I experienced through Christian Science. I was suffering from a chronic liver complaint, a troublesome bowel complaint, and weakness of the heart. At first, material remedies brought some relief; but they soon had no effect whatever, and my condition grew more and more serious. Then, as a last resource, I turned to Christian Science for help, which was lovingly given in the form of absint treatment; and after one hour I was free from all sickness. The healing was so complete that my children, on coming home about an hour after the treatment had been given, could not understand the great change which had taken place. I felt as if I had been born anew, so completely had all my complaints disappeared. It is true, at that time we knew practically nothing about the wonderful truth of Christian Science; and owing to erroneous thinking the old complaints seemed to return after a time. I turned again to a Christian Science practitioner, and thanks to her loyal, loving work the healing was permanent this time. Since then about four years have passed, and I have been perfectly well.

After my healing we began to attend the Christian Science services regularly, and to study the Bible and the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, daily with the aid of the Christian Science Quarterly. The practitioner's kind explanations soon enabled us to recognize at least a little of God's all-inclusive love. Once, when boiling water was poured over my neck and arms, I was so clearly conscious of God's presence that I had no sense of pain, and no blisters formed. My arms were only slightly red; but this soon disappeared.

My children, too, have experienced many blessings in Christian Science, a few of which I should like to relate. At the beginning of 1924 one of my daughters was taken suddenly very ill with pleurisy. But we all knew that this error could not assert itself in the bright light of Truth. A practitioner gave loving treatment willingly and patiently, and in four days my daughter was able to leave her bed. Two days later she was completely healed. This same daughter had suffered from early childhood from a chronic skin eruption, which affected her hands most of all. We had tried every kind of remedy; but this discordant condition always broke out again, and even seemed to defy Christian Science treatment. In the summer of 1924, when she was in the south of Germany, this complaint broke out so violently that my daughter wrote to the practitioner and asked for treatment. In a few days she had the absolute certainty that she was free, although to the physical senses the healing did not take place for two months. My eldest daughter has been healed in Christian Science of nervousness, a chronic intestinal complaint, severe headaches, which had troubled her since childhood, and other minor ailments. My youngest daughter, who, owing to her occupation, was very irritable and nervous, has been completely healed through her study of Christian Science.
