Letters from the Field

"I cannot let another Christmastide pass without expressing my gratitude for the privilege of having been a guest at the Christian Science sanatorium. It is almost two years since my visit in that lovely place, where I spent five fruitful weeks. I seemed to be in need of a quiet resting place in which to recuperate from a threatened breakdown, and I found the sanatorium to be indeed a 'shadow of a great rock in a weary land.' I was especially impressed at every turn by the 'silent lesson of a good example' (Miscellaneous Writings, p. 126). The associates, all of them, were very loving, kind, and courteous.

"My heart overflows with gratitude to our precious Leader for making possible this haven of rest.

"(Mrs.) Ethel M. McCandless, Omaha, Nebraska."
