Christian Scientists are earnestly and consistently studying the Bible. They could not do otherwise and be obedient to their religion, the first tenet of which, as given in the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, reads as follows (p. 497): "As adherents of Truth, we take the inspired Word of the Bible as our sufficient guide to eternal Life." The Bible, in conjuction with the writings of Mrs. Eddy, forms an important part in their daily study. The Lesson-Sermon read in The Mother Church, The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Massachusetts, and in all of its authorized branches consists of selected passages from the Bible and the Christian Science textbook. Incidentally, the Bible used in Christian Science churches is the same as that used by all Protestant denominations, namely, the King James Version.
