[Original testimony in German]
Before I came to Christian Science I frequently had...
Before I came to Christian Science I frequently had chapped hands. I tried different medicines, but without success. When this condition came again in the fall of 1920, and was so bad that the skin broke open, I began to work in Christian Science. I took the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, and read on pages 414 and 415: "Inflammation is fear, an excited state of mortals which is not normal;" and, "Keep in mind the verity of being,—that man is the image and likeness of God, in whom all being is painless and permanent." And when it became clear to me that the child of God can express only health and harmony, this false picture disappeared from my consciousness. The next day my hands were perfectly healed.
One morning I took the underground. During the ride an inharmonious condition presented itself. On this day I was to attend an important course, but the condition became steadily worse and I felt as if I should fall any moment. I began to work in Christian Science, but could not think rightly. I remembered I had taken a Herold with me. I opened it and read the sentence quoted from Science and Health (p. 72), "Perfection is not expressed through imperfection." This truth filled me with such great joy that I forgot to think about myself. In a few minutes I left the underground and was well again. Great gratitude came to me for this experience, for it was so clear to me that God's angels are with us everywhere.
For this beautiful proof and the other blessings of the healing power of divine Love, I am grateful to God and to our Leader, Mrs. Eddy. I am grateful for membership in The Mother Church and in one of its branch churches, and for the blessing of class instruction.
