I am exceedingly grateful for all the good that Christian Science...
I am exceedingly grateful for all the good that Christian Science has brought to me and mine. In the winter of 1922 I had an attack of terrible pain in my back, which was caused by lifting a man who had fallen to the floor, several times. I was alone with him each time, and he could not help himself much. I immediately did my mental work, as we are taught in the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, but the pain did not yield; so I asked help from a practitioner, who very lovingly did the work. Then I had influenza. I could not read, because the pain in my eyes was so severe. But thanks to God, these conditions all disappeared in about ten days. I am deeply grateful for these proofs, for they strengthen reliance on our Father-Mother, God. My heart is so full of gratitude that there are no words to express it.
In 1921 my little granddaughter had measles, and a short time afterwards lost her hearing. Then my daughter went to a specialist. All he said was that he could do nothing for her; that perhaps the child would be deaf all her life. This made my daughter very fearful. Then she wrote me and asked me to treat the case immediately in Christian Science. I received the letter about half past two in the afternoon, and at four o'clock the child could hear as well as ever. She had been playing out of doors with some children and came into the house ten or fifteen minutes before four o'clock. Her mother spoke to her, and the child answered the question. With joy and gratitude for the blessing of the teaching of our Saviour, Christ Jesus, which Christian Science makes available, she wrote me that the child could hear as well as ever. In May, 1923, my daughter began to study Christian Science, and her children to attend the Christian Science Sunday School. In the fall of the same year her husband also began to study. Oh, I am so grateful for everything! God, my Father, alone knows my heart.
I am also very grateful for having received class instruction, which gave me a better understanding of the Bible and Science and Health. My desire is to walk more and more in the footsteps of our Master and Saviour, Christ Jesus. I am also deeply grateful that I am a member of The Mother Church and of a branch church. "My heart is fixed, O God, my heart is fixed: I will sing and give praise." Oh, that all who are in subjection to matter might seek as I did; for I found what I had sought for many years.
