Jesus said, "Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall...

Jesus said, "Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." Like many thousands of others, I proved the accuracy of this statement when Christian Science healed me of a seemingly incurable condition some three and one half years ago. I was suffering from what was diagnosed as a tumor on the nerves of the head. A doctor had tried every material means to alleviate this condition, but without avail; and he said the next and only thing left to try was an operation, not to heal me, but to give me temporary ease from the pain. So arrangements were made with one of the leading surgeons in this city to perform the operation; but before this step was taken, the radiant light of Truth came to me. My mother was wonderfully guided to Christian Science; treatment was asked for from a practitioner and very lovingly given; and I was instantaneously healed, perfectly and permanently, of that seemingly discordent condition.

In the Bible we have the promise, "Before they call, I will answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear." After I had been in Christian Science a few months I was healed of a gathering in the ear through the faithful and loving work of a practitioner and the spiritual understanding of the ninety-first psalm. For all the physical healings I have received I am inexpressibly grateful; but I am far more grateful for the spiritual regeneration. In "Rudimental Divine Science" (p. 2) we read: "Healing physical sickness is the smallest part of Christian Science. It is only the bugle-call to thought and action, in the higher range of infinite goodness." I am proving the efficacy of this truth, as taught in Christian Science, in everyday life, in every problem that comes up to be met; and if at times trials seem to be overwhelming, I just remember our Leader's statement in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 66), "Trials are proofs of God's care." Every experience helps us to demonstrate God's allness and man's dominion. We are Love's ideas and cannot be touched by error, for error is not of God and has no power.

Once I was very much helped by the following illustration. We see a field of wheat. At first it springs up so quickly that we wonder really how it has happened. For a time the wheat seems to be at a standstill. Then up it shoots again; and we see why there was a seeming stoppage. A little knot had formed; this was to strengthen the wheat as it grew. Without the knot, the first rains and storms would have knocked it down. And so it is with us! Without the over-comings and consequent strengthening, the seeming storms of error would be too much for us; and overcoming never leaves us where it found us.
